Planning Your Trip

We recommend allowing at least 1 to 1.5 hours to fully experience the Beaconsfield Mine and Heritage Centre at your own pace. Families and visitors of all ages are welcome and encouraged to interact with many of our exhibits. For a bit of friendly competition, join our Animal Hunt—try to find as many as you can. Don’t worry if you miss a few; there’s a prize waiting for you at the front desk.

Please note that parts of the Heritage Centre are located on a former industrial site and can be exposed to the elements. In winter, it can be quite cold, so we suggest dressing warmly and wearing suitable, covered footwear. We look forward to your visit and hope you enjoy every moment with us!

Free Public Parking: A free car park is located further along West Street, and there is plenty of free street parking.

Drop-Off Point: A convenient drop-off area and level walkway are situated directly outside the entrance on West Street, Beaconsfield.

Coaches and bus parking: There is a Bus drop-off area on the same side of the road with footpath access to the entry. Large vehicle and Coach parking is available on the public streets for free, with access around Tasmania and Shaw Street for turning. If parking is unavailable here, there is a large public car park at the Beaconsfield Community Centre on West Tamar Highway.

Disabled Parking: Two designated spots are available right at the front door on West Street. The main parking lot has additional parking with access to the entry via a ramp and walkway rails, with a short, level gravel pathway connecting these areas.

The Centre is wheelchair accessible throughout most areas. However, please be aware that due to the nature of the site, some areas are inaccessible to people with limited mobility. We strive to make your visit as comfortable as possible and are here to assist with any specific needs you may have.

Buses, operated by Manions Coaches run from Launceston via the West Tamar Highway and Grindelwald to Beaconsfield 7 days a week. For more information you can call 03 6383 1221 or visit www.transport.tas.gov.au

Public Toilets: These are available both within the Heritage Centre and at Jubilee Park, directly next to the entrance. The Centre has all-access and unisex toilets.

Support Animals: Guide dogs and accredited assistance dogs (with documentation) are welcome. The Miner’s Park, located directly across the road, is an on-lead recreational area. Poop bags are available at the public rubbish bins in this park. There is also a dedicated dog park on Weld Street.

We are committed to providing a welcoming and accessible experience for all our visitors. If you have any specific needs or questions, please don’t hesitate to ask our staff for assistance. Accessibility pilot program.
